About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Metrology Technician to join our team. This role is critical in leading the calibration, maintenance, and repair of precision measurement tools and equipment used across our aerospace MRO operations and by our local customers. The successful candidate will possess deep expertise in calibrating aerospace parts and components, a strong understanding of FAA and industry standards, and the ability to mentor junior technicians. This position offers a blend of advanced technical work, quality assurance, and leadership responsibilities in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced calibration, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of precision measurement tools and aerospace components including torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, pressure gauges, dial indicators, electronic test equipment, and avionics test sets.
  • Calibrate aerospace parts and components in accordance with FAA regulations, ISO 17025, AS9100, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Develop, review, and update calibration procedures and technical data to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Troubleshoot complex out-of-tolerance conditions, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Utilize precision standards and advanced test equipment to verify tool accuracy and make necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain and operate specialized calibration equipment including multifunction calibrators, pressure controllers, temperature baths, and RF/microwave test sets.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and schematics to perform accurate calibrations.
  • Ensure all calibration activities meet traceability requirements and industry best practices.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior calibration technicians and apprentices.
  • Review and approve calibration certificates, reports, and technical documentation generated by the team.
  • Assist in training new technicians on calibration procedures, equipment usage, and quality standards.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives within the metrology lab to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and throughput.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for complex calibration challenges and customer inquiries.
  • Manage the complete tool lifecycle process including receiving, tracking, and shipping customer tools.
  • Generate and review detailed calibration certificates and reports for both internal and customer tools.
  • Maintain accurate records of calibration results, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel and calibration management software (CMS) to track tool inventories, generate reports, and analyze data.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external customers regarding tool status, scheduling, and technical inquiries.
  • Support quality audits by providing documentation, process explanations, and technical expertise.
  • Ensure the metrology lab maintains a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
  • Qualifications

    Required:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Metrology, Electronics, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in metrology or calibration within the aerospace industry.
  • Proven experience calibrating aerospace parts and components in an MRO, manufacturing, or FAA-regulated environment
  • Strong knowledge of calibration principles, measurement uncertainty, and traceability requirements.
  • Experience with a wide variety of mechanical, electronic, and dimensional measurement instruments.
  • Proficiency with precision standards, test equipment, and calibration software.
  • Strong understanding of FAA regulations, AS9100, and ISO 17025 quality standards.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and calibration management software (CMS).
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, and schematics.
  • Must be a U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance requirements.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Preferred:

  • Military PMEL (Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory) training or experience.
  • Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) through ASQ or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with ISO 17025 accreditation processes and internal auditing.
  • Experience with RF/microwave, avionics, or electrical calibration.
  • Experience leading a calibration team or serving as a technical lead.
  • Familiarity with Pentagon ERP or similar aerospace ERP systems.
  • Experience with automated calibration systems and LabVIEW.
